Choosing The Best Handgun Jun 08

Many times I have been asked. “What is the best handgun to have?” I always reply that the best handgun to have is the one that’s in your hand at the very moment you need it! Today, there are a lot of guns for sale in the market for you to choose. So, which one is the best? Choosing the best gun for you depends on a number of factors. I am not a believer that there is a perfect gun. There are guns that are close to perfection, but for me, it depends on the preference of the individual.

When choosing the best gun for your needs, you need to first and foremost you need to decide how the gun is to be utilized. Will it be used for target shooting? Or do you need defensive guns? Do you want something that is carried concealed? Whatever the purpose, the guns have to be totally reliable, most particularly if it is a defensive handgun. These days, there are a lot of gun manufacturers that create very reliable semi-automatic pistols. Among the famous ones are Sig Sauer, Springfield, Glock, Smith Wesson and Beretta. Some people whom I know think that Glock is the Holy Grail of pistols. Well of course, there are some who don’t agree with that.

You need to consider handgun fit as it is important as reliability. It’s vital that the weapon you want to buy needs to fit your hand. You also need to consider that it should feel like a natural extension of your arm.

Secondly, you need to be aware of the mental conditioning that comes with owning a firearm. It’s of the essence to be certain that you are capable of using this weapon correctly for whatever use that it was acquired. However, if you are not sure that you can use it to protect your family, property or others then DO NOT get one. Because it might occur that your opponent will take possession of the weapon and use it on you, your loved ones or some other innocent individual.

Before buying a handgun, it’s best that you visit many gun stores and take a look at some pistols for sale. You may consider looking at revolvers, semi automatics and single actions. But you always need to consider the main thing in choosing a gun for your needs; you need to see to it that the handgun feels very comfortable in your hand.

As soon as you made a decision on which type of handgun you want to obtain, you need to make a conscious resolution that you will practice the proper use of it at least once a month. With good practice, loading, aiming and shooting will become a second nature.
