According to Google Trends, electronic cigarettes have taken a huge jump in traffic in the last three months and health officials have taken notice. The FDA has even gone so far as to seize shipments of the product into the US. Larger US suppliers have sued the FDA arguing that their product falls outside their jurisdiction and regulatory control.

The motives of other anti-smoking organizations have fallen into question as they also oppose the sale and distribution of the healthier smoking alternative. Most users of the e-cig have had outstanding results so far, but their voice has fallen under more scrutiny as health officials proclaim the nicotine replacement devices require more testing before they should be deemed as "safe" for public consumption. It seems silly when comparing it to the 4,000 known chemicals and over 40 cancer-causing agents in tobacco cigarettes.
